Hannah C. Fieldman at Imbibe Writes:
Ever loved beer so much, you wished you could bathe in it?
Now you can, thanks to The Beer Soap Company. Zaidat Bombata, who is in school to become a dermatologist, began making soap about 4 years ago, after finding commercially produced soaps too drying for her skin. At first, she focused on more feminine, floral scents, but when she and her husband, Jamin Poczontek, decided to created a product line for me, the idea of beer soap was born. Poczontek, who worked at a home-improvement store, scouts out the beers, which range from Nogne O Porter to Sam Adams Cherry Wheat (the latter mixed with cedarwood for an earthier aroma), and he includes his tasting nores on some of the soaps’ product pages.
Despite these soaps’ featured ingredient, there’s no need to worry about emerging from the shower smelling like a brewery. “The funny thing is, after the beer goes through the soap-making process , it attains a sweet, honey-like, barley scent,” says Bombata. The couple is happy to take suggestions for new beers to try out, provided that they can find a sample in their hometown of Cleveland, Ohio. We can’t help thinking that on Father’s Day, an awful lot of dads out there might enjoy a seven-pack of their favorite beer, size in the bottle, and one in the tub!
